A structure fire on Refugio Road spread to nearby vegetation that burned 1/2 of an acre on Wednesday afternoon.

At 3:23 p.m., Santa Barbara County Firefighters responded with units from the Los Padres National Forest to the report of a fire at 575 Refugio Road. Upon arrival crews found a two-story adobe residential structure fully involved with flames spreading to nearby brush.

SBC Fire Captain Dave Zaniboni reports the building is a total loss, but crews prevented the brush fire’s forward progress at half an acre. There were no injuries reported.

A helicopter was requested from Santa Ynez in case the fire started spotted ahead of itself, but it was not used in the area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and crews will remain on scene.
