Aug 06, 2021 12:18 AMI heard 4 reports of vehicle thefts in the County today; three of them involved people leaving their keys in the vehicles, the fourth, a woman left her car running while she went into the bank. What is it that people don't get here? Prevention of theft isn't really that hard.

Aug 06, 2021 09:05 AMWhen I was a kid the police used to leave cars parked with the keys in them within a block of the high school. Nowadays I suppose it would be considered entrapment, certainly is was an attractive and somewhat irresistible bait, and several of my classmates went off to juvie. Back in those prehistoric days there were punishments and consequences for bad behavior, on the theory that people could be "scared straight" by contact with the penal system.
