By the Santa Barbara Police Department

On April 29, 2022, Santa Barbara Police Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of State Street for a report of a found body. The deceased 30-year-old male was discovered with narcotics and drug paraphernalia in his possession. The cause of death was determined to be acute fentanyl intoxication.

Over the course of several months, Santa Barbara Police Detectives and the Santa Barbara County District Attorney Investigators investigated this death. Detectives learned during their investigation Dillon James Joseph Johnson, a 34-year-old Santa Barbara resident was identified as the suspect that had distributed the decedent the fentanyl that caused his death.

A Santa Barbara County Superior Court Judge authorized a search warrant associated with this case. It is believed that Johnson directly supplied the deadly drug to the decedent that caused his death.

After months of investigation, On September 1, 2022, Santa Barbara Police Detectives served the warrant and arrested Johnson in the 7100 block of Hollister Avenue, Goleta. A search after his arrest revealed quantities of fentanyl and other narcotics that constitute possession with the intent to distribute.

Johnson was booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail for murder, and numerous felony narcotic violations. His bail was set at $1,000,000. The Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against Johnson and his arraignment is scheduled for today in Department 8 of the Santa Barbara Superior Court.

Thank god they start tracking down these low life pieces of S*** that are distributing the damn drugs, I hope this is an on going process where they can track on the phones and find out who sold the drugs to the ones who overdose

Fentanyl continues to KILL thousands of Americans and it almost all comes through our Southern Border, yet the current Administration refuses to address this huge issue.... Go figure.

@ SACJON- Prove it... Please talk to the President of the CBP Agents for the REAL information, not what you hear when watching "The View"... You have MIS INFORMATION. 10,000+ have died in the U.S. due to fentanyl overdoses primarily due to the Mexican Cartels controlling border activity.

As I've noted before, if CW says it then it isn't true.

https://www.csis.org/npfp/dangerous-opioid-india

"After years of persistent efforts, the U.S.-China bilateral crackdown on opioid trafficking has started to see recent success. In mid- October, two Chinese nationals were indicted for running a large illicit fentanyl distribution network and their three American accomplices were arrested."

https://www.whitehouse.gov/ondcp/briefing-room/2022/08/31/actions-taken-by-the-biden-harris-administration-to-address-addiction-and-the-overdose-epidemic/

It's the GOP that votes down funding for programs that address these problems.

DOULIE and COAST - Why do I have to prove Biden has not refused to do anything? It was your comment, YOU prove it. Refusing to address something is not the same as not doing enough or not doing what you think he should do. Reading words is important.

Prove he has "refused to address" the fentanyl crisis. YOUR words.

Take your head out of the sand. There are basically open borders. More drugs than ever have come across since Biden took office.

BDM in all fairness the comment was off topic as the murder charge should be from war crimes relating to the drone strike that killed a family of innocent men, women and children during the disastrous Afghan withdrawal as a murder charge for fentanyl deaths due to his lackadaisical stance on the boarder is a stretch.

Censorship? You mean the Terms of Service you agreed to when you created your account? If you want to spew garbage, nonsense, hate and violence - then go on Truth Social and post away before they are completely bankrupt.

Maybe if we had a fentanyl death counter on the news everyday like we did with covid people would take this public health crisis more seriously.

Deaths involving synthetic opioids other than methadone (primarily fentanyl) continued to rise with 56,516 overdose deaths reported in 2020. In May 2022, Covid had killed over 1,0000 people. So there's that.

General - Wasn't it a couple years ago AOC was hollering the world was coming to an end in twelve years? Which republican(s) talk about the "end of times?" Can you, and a majority of Americans honestly say you are living better since Biden took office?

Hey genius, we've explained why it's not censorship. And yes we have seen them. And Sac (and I) have also had comments deleted. Put on your big boy pants and stop whining.

Selective application of the TOS and moderation only on one side or opinion is censorship. EdHat's TOS allows it's own censorship, it doesn't mean it isn't occurring.

VOICE at 11:05 - with the amount you complain about the TOS being unfair, it's surprising you're still here, every day, all day. The deleted comment violated the following:

4. No discussion of National politics - this board is for local issues only.

11. Off-topic comments will be deleted. Please keep the conversation focused on the issued discussed in the article.

And now YOUR comment violates this one:

5. Any comments discussing Edhat editorial policy or business practices will be deleted. Email us directly at ed@edhat.com with your concern instead of detracting from the conversation.

I get deleted all the time. It's not one-sided, no matter how bad you want it to be.

As mentioned below, it is the selective application of the TOS. Nothing was said about the TOS being unfair. You really need to stop trying to argue with people based on who they are or who you think they are rather than the actual words they use.

VOICE - so what? It's a private company. If they want to be "selective" and pick on you and your buddies because of the things you say, so what? They can choose what to remove without owing you any explanation. You think my comments would remain up on Parler? Gads man, quit the incessant crying!

@Voice - if ed followed the comment policies to a "T" there wouldn't be any comments left. They're lenient on some things but I've noticed more strict on immature insults between commenters, overt misinformation, and racist/sexist/homophobic/xenophobic sentiments. Turns out, a lot of the later comes from our conservative commenters.

The "orange nazi" floated designating the cartels terrorist organizations (which they are) so we could drone strike their compounds and drug labs. But of course like everything he tried to do it was vehemently opposed by the left, not because it's right or wrong or it would work or not work, simply because if Trump is for it, the left is against it. Crazy we have no problem (well I have a problem) drone striking and sending in special forces halfway around the world to kill people who could potentially attack and kill US citizens yet do have a problem doing it to the cartels south of the boarder actively killing US citizens and trafficking sex slaves (and minor sex slaves!!) through our borders. And of course there was the few billion for the wall that was so strenuously fought (but nearly $100billion for Ukraine...) but you're totally right GT, he didn't do try to do anything.....

" simply because if Trump is for it, the left is against it." - Not true at all. Half the things he proposed were illegal under federal and/or international law, such as summarily executing criminals in foreign countries. Drug dealers are not terrorists, they're horrible criminals, but cannot be designated as terrorists unless you change the definition of the word, which would then allow us to assassinate criminals in other countries and thereby denying them due process of law.

The fact that you truly think this idea was opposed just because of who he was shows you have no concept of our laws. Great books out there to read if you truly want to learn.

Voice of Reason Sep 07, 2022 01:33 PM
State Street Overdose Death Leads to Arrest

Okay I'll bite, how are drug cartels that murder people in their locale and abroad, traffic humans sexually and otherwise, smuggle arms, and traffic deadly poison into our country NOT terrorists? What is the a difference between a bomb and a deadly poison? From anthrax and fentanyl? What makes a group in Yemen plotting to kill Americans different than the cartel, who aren't just plotting but actually and actively killing Americans? What is the difference other than their nationality? Speaking changing definitions of the words, that a rather common and unfortunate tactic these days but we'll save that for another time....

You see, drug dealing and sex trafficking is done for the purpose of the criminal making money. It's a "business," not an ideological, political, religious, etc statement/attack or intimidation. You don't get to just call every criminal a terrorist. Words and definitions matter.

You're so much smarter than everyone, you should run for Grand Leader!

You're literally defending drug cartels that kill innocent people domestically and abroad, sex traffic young children, murder the family's of politicians in their country who dare stand up to them, and smuggle deadly poison into the United States causing the deaths of tens of thousand of people all to prove me wrong. But they aren't terrorist because they do it for.... greed, however, if they did for an ideological ideal (other than greed) they would be terrorists. Wow. Just wow. Keep it coming.

Border Patrol sees increase in fentanyl trafficking
Aug 30, 2022( NewsNation) — New drug seizures along the U.S.-Mexico border include fentanyl and opioids that are up to 100 times more powerful than morphine. More than 3.5 million fentanyl pills were seized in Arizona alone in just August. That is enough fentanyl to kill nearly every single person living in the state of Connecticut

General Tree: You're absolutely right about Regan's de-funding of Mental Health Treatment. Our country's mental health system has never recovered from that. Which is of course, one of many causes of the problem that we're seeing now. But, you're absolutely wrong about which political party's recent leadership has been better about dealing with the influx of undocumented immigrants, and all of the things that they bring with them across our porous southern border, i.e. the Biden administration is utterly bereft of action or plan to secure our country's borders. If you think otherwise, you're not paying attention.

THE REASON Mental Health Institutions were SHUT DOWN during Reagan's term as Governor was that the ACLU WAS GOING TO SUE THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, their reasoning being you can not keep non criminals incarcerated, it's against their "constitutional rights".... CLUE IN

Here is a fact check on the “Regan shut down mental health facilities in the 1960s and it’s still his fault over fifty years later” myth. The Lanterman–Petris–Short Act, named for the bipartisan team of two democrats and one republican who authored, it was passed by the democrat controlled state legislature and signed into law by governor regan in 1967.

Has everybody got problems?
Are you stuck in a dead end job?
Frustrated and dissatisfied?
Are you on the edge of suicide?
Terrorist bombers on the left, (Left!)
Fascist plots on the right, (Right!)
Mass destruction and homicide,
Are you horrified and terrified?
Such a shame.
We all got problems we know,
There one thing that's for sure,
There's one cure for all your hangups and all your depressions.
Have another drink it'll make you feel better,
Have another drink and you will feel alright.
If you feel down and you're under the weather
Have another drink and you'll feel alright.

- Ray Davies from The Kinks from their 1975 concept album 'Soap Opera -
Everyone who posts their comments (including myself) need to hit the bars to have many drinks because of these very stressful articles on edhat. "Have another drink!"
