Underground utilities are a great idea, but expensive. My aunt lived on the Riviera and when they went underground my cousin said it cost 17k. She was old and had a fit so my cousin paid it.

Pro-rate the cost of underground utilities over a 30 year time period - special districts for financing. It is doable. It is a long term investment. City promised underground utilities in the 1970's general plan.

When power is turned off up at #154 area, just turns out that power is out in area of Hollister/Puente all the way to More Mesa. Was the power off in Painted Cave this morning, Sunday around 7am? If so, we feel your pain.

Power out this morning for several hours Turnpike/Hollister area. I was driving on Puente to Hollister and the traffic lights were out. I saw a Hollister vehicle fly through the intersection at Puente at about 50mph and no stopping him. Luckily, I wasn't at the right place just approaching and didn't get t-boned. In looking at the other traffic signals, they were turned on at Hollister/Turnpike-Modoc-Walnut. So, this guy only saw ONE intersection w/o traffic signals, and either didn't notice or decided to not stop. On Turnpike, lights were off at San Gordiano (Turnpike drive into San Marcos High School), lights were on near there at the freeway overpass, then off again at Calle Real/Turnpike. Uneven at best. The Sheriff's headquarters is near the Calle Real/Turnpike intersection. Fire Station #13 is 1 block from Puente/Hollister. For the sake of public safety, could the powers-that-be decide to have battery backups where they are needed at Puente and San Gregorio and Calle Real, or have public safety people out there to guide, direct, and make safe pedestrians, bikers, and vehicles. Please?

when you get your license, there is a section that explains if a traffic light is out or flashing. YOU STOP..... we dont need to pay someone to sit in the intersection to "re-teach" people common rules of the road.

pretty cool, and odd no one else commented. This repairing is what will help solve some of our "power" issues ( PSPS events ). but people would rather be on the other post complaining about it i guess.
