SR-246 Passing Lane Project & Tularosa Detour

Source: Caltrans

A safety project to construct passing lanes in both directions on State Route 246 near Lompoc from Cebada Canyon Road to Hapgood Road (East) will realign Tularosa Road with State Route 246, Caltrans officials announced today.

On Thursday, Aug. 10, traffic for Tularosa Road will no longer use the detour east of Tularosa Road and will be temporarily routed through the construction zone on a one-way unpaved surface until the intersection can be completed.

The contractor for this $14.9 million project is Papich Construction of Pismo Beach, CA. This project is fully funded by the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG) Measure A program.  It is expected to be completed in the mid-2018.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
