Caltrans has completed a pavement preservation project on 17 miles of State Route 154 in various locations from west of Edison Street to the Cold Spring Canyon Bridge.

“This completion of this project has improved motorist safety with many visual and structural design improvements.  With the ever increasing growth in vehicles along this corridor, this project will further enhance the commuter experience for those driving through the San Marcos Pass while improving traffic flow for local residents,” said Michael S. Williams, President-Executive Director of the Wildland Residents Association.”

Construction on this project which began in 2016 was delayed at times as a result of the Ray, Whittier, and Thomas Fires.  The contractor for this $11 million project was CalPortland of Santa Maria, CA.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.

For traffic updates on other state highways in Santa Barbara County, motorists can call Caltrans District 5 Public Affairs at (805) 549-3318 or visit the District 5 website at:http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist05/road_information.htm
