A vehicle struck a pole on the junction of Mission Gate Road and Purisima Road in Lompoc, leading to injuries and significant disruptions.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 7:37 p.m. on Sunday, saw a vehicle engaging in excessive speeding before colliding with a utility pole, causing a wire to fall onto the road.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department quickly responded to the scene. The female driver, who was the vehicle’s sole occupant, managed to self-extricate from the wreckage and sustained only minor injuries. Emergency services transported her by ground ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Following the collision, local authorities closed Purisima Road between the intersections of Purisima/Mission Gate and Purisima/Rucker Rd to secure the area and facilitate the necessary repairs. The closure affected traffic flow in the area, with motorists advised to seek alternative routes.
