Speaking of Bugs

Sadly, I found this in our bathroom today. It had become completely entangled in spider web, and probably languished until it's demise. It's our native Walking Stick, the second I've seen this year. This is about how big they get... note the penny. Easy to miss. I was also blessed with seeing on of our local Praying Manitses a few weeks ago - about an inch and a half long. I just wanted to share in case people didn't know we had our own local teeny things.

Aug 03, 2017 05:08 PMThanks for showing us. I saw a walking stick many years ago in northern California. They are really cool. I hope the next one you see is alive.

Aug 03, 2017 01:05 PMOH MY GOODNESS I didn't know that we had California's native walking stick in Santa Barbara!!! That makes me so happy! I'm sad for this little guy but I'm so happy you posted a picture of it, thank you Mountain Man! You're up kind of around the painted cave general area, right? WOW I hope I get to see one in it's habitat one day. Here's hoping! :) :) :)
