SpaceX’s Falcon 9 is set to wrap up October with the launch of more satellites in California.

Falcon 9 is targeting the launch of 28 Starlink V2 Mini satellites into low Earth orbit on October 27, followed by another identical mission on October 30 from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

The launch window for the October 27 launch opens at 2:21 p.m. PT from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E), while the launch window for the October 30 launch opens at 1:06 p.m. PT from SLC-4E.

Each mission’s first-stage booster will land on the droneship Of Course I Still Love You, stationed in the Pacific Ocean.

Where to Livestream Falcon 9 Launches

According to SpaceX’s website, a live webcast of both missions will begin about five minutes before liftoff.

Viewers can watch the webcast on the X TV app, the SpaceX website, or SpaceX’s official X handle.

The Falcon 9’s reusability and operational efficiency allow SpaceX to sustain a high launch cadence, supporting the ongoing deployment of satellites to expand, maintain, and enhance the Starlink constellation.

Falcon 9 is a two-stage rocket developed by SpaceX for missions carrying crew and cargo to orbit and beyond. Its pioneering reusable design allows its main stages to be flown again, helping reduce the expense of reaching space.

Santa Barbara Residents May Hear Sonic Booms

According to SpaceX, residents in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties may hear one or more sonic booms during the launch, depending on weather and other factors.

A sonic boom is a brief, thunder-like noise created when a rocket travels faster than the speed of sound.

Starlink: The World’s Most Advanced Satellite Internet System

Considered the world’s most sophisticated satellite system, Starlink employs a constellation in low Earth orbit to deliver high-speed internet for streaming, online gaming, and video calls.

Equipped with advanced laser links, Starlink satellites can achieve data transfer rates of up to 25 Gbps over distances as great as 4,000 km—and even higher speeds across shorter spans.
