A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying the SAOCOM 1A satellite launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base at 7:21 p.m. PDT. SpaceX completed the secondary mission of landing the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket at Landing Zone 4, which was previously called SLC-4W, at Vandenberg Air Force Base. This was SpaceX’s first land landing attempt at Vandenberg Air Force Base.

These photos of Sunday evening’s SpaceX launch were taken from the Gaviota coast north of Refugio State Park, about 30 miles south of VAFB; (1) launch, (2) separated second and first stages, (3) first stage descending with rockets ignited, (4) second stage carrying the Argentine satellite.

Space-X successfully launched an Argentinian radar observation satellite from Vandenberg AFB this evening at 7:21 PDT. The launch was historic as Space-X brought the lst stage booster back to Vandenberg next to the launch pad the payload has left less than 20 minutes earlier.

The reusable booster assembly makes the use of rockets more affordable for a wide range of customers across the globe.
