Sonic Boom
Anyone have any idea about the sonic boom heard in the area around 12:30p today? Didn't see anything posted on twitter from Vandenberg. Both my dog & heard it.

Jan 24, 2022 03:28 PMWhen I hear one of these sonic booms I open up FlightRadar24 website and you can usually find a military refueling tanker hanging out on the ocean north of Vandenburg. Id be curious to know if these are military exercises happening off the coast

Jan 28, 2022 02:47 PMMP805 - it's one of my favorite new sites. I've heard at least 2 sonic booms today and just checked. There are some Hawker Hunters flying around off Oxnard. Wish I was in one!

Jan 24, 2022 07:49 PMThat's interesting, I felt something...at first I thought it might have been a quick quake but it was only the sliding glass doors that rattled. I looked on USGS for a while and saw nothing for our area. I also thought it might have been a sonic boom or some kind of testing but could not find anything. It was very quick...left a negative vibe from the burst of energy that was forced....

The 70's were pretty special.

Jan 28, 2022 02:33 PMQuite a few sonic booms today...looks like some sort of military training off the coast. Boeing KC-135R Stratotanker 57-1469 flying circles right off of Vandenburg.

Jan 28, 2022 02:59 PMSACJON - Thanks for pointing that out, looks like that Hawker Hunter Mk.58 Reg. N335AX flew all the way down off the coast of Mexico and back to Oxnard. First time I've ever heard of this plane..https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawker_Hunter.

Jan 28, 2022 04:28 PMThanks y'all. I felt and heard only one, but I was waling in the hallway and leaned against the wall and prayed! (I'm just an atheist waiting for the big quake, and traumatized by the October lightning storm. Laugh at me all you want. But experience it overhead first.)

Jan 28, 2022 07:27 PMThe company that flies the Hunters also had some Kfir C2 aircraft that are supersonic (Mach 2.3).
