Southern California Edison (SCE) has notified customers that it is considering a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) in parts of Santa Barbara County due to an increased risk for wildfires.

This outage may begin as soon as Wednesday, October 2 at 3:00 p.m., though it may occur earlier or later depending on actual weather conditions.

SCE stated that 3,036 customers may be affected in the areas of Gaviota, Naples, and the San Antonio Creek neighborhood up to Camino Cielo.

If you live or work in or near the potentially PSPS impacted area, you should make preparations for a possible multiple day power outage. Call Southern California Edison at 800-611-1911 or visit https://www.sce.com/outage-center/check-outage-status for more info on this potential outage.

SCE will establish Community Resource Centers to support those impacted by potential PSPS. These sites provide a safe location to recharge electric devices, and access PSPS event information.

Other resources and services such as water, snacks, accessible restrooms, and Wi-Fi may be available, dependent on the facility. No overnight service is provided.

Assistance is available at the following locations:

Residence Inn, 6350 Hollister Ave., Goleta 93117

  • Open Wednesday, October 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  Spanish-speaking SCE staff will be available
