I think it's legit to post that we should all avoid breathing in toxic air whenever possible. I agree that there should be an alternative way besides controlled burning to reduce destruction of people and property due to wildfires. First step: Don't allow people to construct homes in areas which are designated as high fire danger. The same way we restrict people building in flood zones, don't allow homes to go in where we know they're gonna burn.

Anyone who thinks breathing in wood smoke is okay needs to research the subject online. If you're smelling smoke, you're breathing in particulate matter and benzene and PAHs and causing your lungs and heart damage. These controlled burns are adding to air pollution and contributing to acid rain and climate change. There's no excuse for deliberatedly polluting our nice rain-clean air via this archaic practice. (re: PAHs="The primary source of PAHs is from burning carbon-containing compounds. PAHs in air are produced by burning wood and fuel for homes. They are also contained in gasoline and diesel exhaust, soot, coke, and cigar and cigarette smoke.")**************** https://superfund.oregonstate.edu/all-about-pahs

can we not start this again, I understand you can have an opinion on smoke. but everytime we have a fire, or a controlled burn you say this. and in the end its not helpful as the question is "I smell smoke, is there a problem?" not "I smell smoke is it bad for me?"

Trying to reason with whoever this person is is like talking to a brick wall. They also never answer the question of: if not this, then how else do we prevent wildfires in an equally efficient manner?

at 2:16 - I'd much rather breathe in a microscopic amount of particulate matter a couple times a year than watch homes burn and breathe in *visible* particulate matter (containing human remains, chemicals, paint, gas, etc in addition to wood) every summer. How about you?

Nice! We need these controlled burns to help prevent out of control fires in the summer!
