  • It smells like smoke on Patterson Ave. Does anyone know what’s going on?
  • I live on the Mesa in Santa Barbara and we smell ash. Any local fires? Or possible the wind could have brought it from LA?

I don't know about the controlled burns only hear them on my scanner when they are reported as suspicious by folks who don't know there are controlled burns...I hear smoke investigations now and then many times it's chimneys, and or cooking or warming camp fires if you smell smoke best thing to do is call it in tell the dispatcher that is usually how fires are reported.

Those were definitely not chimneys, it smelled like a fire was in the mountains last night and this morning, and what about last week on Tuesday morning at about 530 am? I got off the south La Cumbre exit to get a coffee and it SMELLED Horrible! Like rotten eggs but a million times worse, I got out of the area immediately because I thought there was a massive gas leak or something, in surprised that’s wasn’t on the news or posted?

What’s the report on those controlled burns scheduled for Feb-March in Santa Ynez, but supposedly only when winds are favorable (i. e., not impacting residents here and there)?

2 Smoke investigations last Evening 100 Block of Paradise Road, and 1300 Block of Camino Manadero, plus you have people with chimneys, cooking and warming fires some on the Mesa.. There is always Pulse Point when no one else is around SBCFire.com
