Small Brush Fire Outside Santa Maria

Santa Barbara County firefighters are battling another brush fire, this one is located west of Santa Maria.

The fire sparked sometime late Saturday afternoon in a field near the Arellanes School. Crews on the scene estimated it to be 1/4 of an acre and mostly wind-driven.

With the assistance of the Santa Maria Fire Department, the fire's forward progress was stopped within the hour.

The cause is under investigation.
