Small Brush Fire Near Vandenberg Air Force Base

Santa Barbara County Firefighters responded to a small brush fire near Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB) early Tuesday evening.

At 6:18 p.m., county and air force fire crews arrived on Highway 1 north of the VAFB Main Gate for a roadside fire. There were approximately three acres of brush burning at a slow rate of spread.

The incident commander requested a helicopter to assist with containment.

The forward progress of the fire was stopped around 7:00 p.m.
