Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a small vegetation fire in the Tanglewood area of Santa Maria on Tuesday.

Crews responded to the 1900 block of Sandlewood Drive in a grass field behind Arellanes Junior High School at 10:40 a.m.

The fire appeared to have started by a mylar balloon contacting a power line, according to Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E). Some power lines were down in the area causing nearly 350 customers to be without power.

Firefighters were able to get a hold on the fire around 11:20 a.m. as it burned approximately a quarter of an acre.

There were no reported injuries.
