Santa Barbara County Firefighters responded to a brush fire in Santa Maria on Saturday afternoon.
At 4:42 p.m. crews arrived in the 200 block of Alderberry Drive and discovered a quarter-acre vegetation fire.
“Locals assisted with perimeter control prior to fire. Please note, [this] can be very dangerous!” said Captain Scott Safechuck.
The forward progress of the fire was stopped by 4:55 p.m. Crews remained on the scene for mop-up of hot spots.
The cause is under investigation.
