A special event on San Marcos Road had skateboarders cruising down the hill on Saturday, edhat readers report.
One reader reported 800 bales of hay were being offloaded on the turnouts. Does anyone have more information on this event?

Sep 17, 2019 09:26 AMOld San Marcos is a great road for gravity powered sports. I drive this road often and you see people "playing" using various wheeled toys. I am happy they allow people to do it safely once in a while. I would have thought it would have been safer and less disruptive to use a stretch of Painted Cave road just above Old San Marcos. They would need to put a good stop before 154 of course.

Sep 17, 2019 09:26 AMDoes anyone know who put on this event? Some hay bales have now fallen in the road and I'd like to contact them. Thanks!

Sep 16, 2019 02:30 PMNot entirely controlled. I was turning onto OSM from Cathedral Oaks as the event was ending, and skateboarders were crossing randomly against the lights.

Sep 16, 2019 12:56 PMWow, thanks for the link Mr. Lubach. I watched the Long Board Let Go video; it was amazing and very beautiful , but terrifying! Mr. Chin's skill and artistry are amazing.

Sep 16, 2019 12:31 PMI learned about the event too late. Wish I could have gotten up there to observe. Downhill skateboarders have far fewer accidents and casualties than one would think. They are highly skilled. This event reminds me of a video from nearly ten years ago when super athlete and UCLA mechanical engineering graduate, Kyle Chin, was captured on a beautiful run down this beautiful road. Of all youtube content, I think I revisit this video the most. In case I'm not allowed to post the link. Just go to the youtube and search for "Long Board Let Go."
