Six Injured in Santa Maria Vehicle Crash

Six people were injured in a vehicle collision off Highway 166 in Santa Maria on Saturday afternoon.

At 2:15 p.m., the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, Los Padres National Forest, Santa Maria Fire Department, CalFire, and the California Highway Patrol responded to the area east of Highway 166 near the Twitchell Reservoir. 

Crews discovered a vehicle crashed 50 feet down an embankment into the riverbed with at least one person ejected from the vehicle. 

CalStar helicopters responded to the scene where at least three people, including two children, were seriously injured. 

One seriously injured patient was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital via CalStar hospital and five other patientes were transported via ground ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center to Santa Maria.

The incident is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
