Sidewalk Improvements on Hollister Avenue Near Fairview

Source: City of Goleta

The City of Santa Barbara will begin a concrete sidewalk improvement project on Tuesday, July 20, that will last approximately four weeks. They will be performing concrete sidewalk improvements on the north and south sides of Hollister Avenue between Fairview Avenue and Frederick Lopez Road.

Work will occur Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Traffic will be maintained in both directions on Hollister Avenue at all times. Traffic control will be in place and potential delays should be expected in the area. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses, although temporary disruptions should be anticipated.

No parking signs will be posted at least 72 hours prior to construction and detour signs (as necessary) will also be provided. Traffic control associated with the project will extend into the City of Goleta right-of-way from Fairview Avenue to Orange Avenue.

The Project is funded primarily by Measure C. For more information about your local sales tax at work, visit www.SantaBarbaraCA.gov/MeasureC.

  1. Laying sidewalks on streets that no one uses is a bit odd. We need sidewalks in places that are blatantly unsafe for pedestrians. For example, check out Pedregosa where it runs into Manitou Road. Or a dozen other unsidewalked inner city streets that are more difficult to handle. This is cherry picking crap and the city council should hold the Public Works director’s feet to the fire for this dereliction of duty.
