Source: Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office

A Sheriff’s Service Technician is isolating and recovering at home after testing positive for COVID-19. The staff member began experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms while at work on Thursday, July 9, 2020. The employee was sent home and tested later that day. The staff member did not have any contact with inmates and wore a mask while working. She was confirmed to be COVID-19 positive on Saturday, July 11, 2020.

Contact tracing determined that the employee lives with a relative who recently tested positive, thus the infection does not appear to be job-related.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 positive-testing staff members at the Sheriff’s Office since the beginning of the pandemic to 31, with 21 of them having recovered and returned to work.
