A Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Lieutenant was arrested in Arroyo Grande for alleged public intoxication last month.

Maynard, 55 of Arroyo Grande, was arrested by the Arroyo Grande Police Department after a reported disturbing the peace call at the Rooster Creek Tavern.

According to the report, Maynard repeatedly stated she was an off-duty law enforcement officer and handed out her business card. Officers reported she had red and glossy eyes, staggered speech, and smelled of alcohol.

Maynard apparently became argumentative and uncooperative with the officers on the scene where she was eventually arrested.

Sheriff Brown needs to go. The SBSO is far behind other similar-sized departments when it comes to community policing, jail management, HR practices, and overall direction. It doesn't seem to have much of any of those for that matter. Over a dozen overdoses at the County jail at the same time show that smuggling is happening due to bad security or worse, corruption. It is public knowledge that phones and weed can easily be smuggled in. How about the panga boats? He did a stakeout and caught one right before his last election and there haven't been any since. Incompetent or corrupt, either way the SBSO needs a serious fixing.

Posting this drunk's photo isn't "sad" or "bad" or otherwise uncalled for. Each and every one of those who lose control like this to the point where the authorities must be involved should be publicly shamed. Especially since this officer gave other officers guff and was one of those "ugly drunks," she should be outted along with any others who misbehave so disgustingly. What's "sad" is people making excuses for her bad behavior.

Interesting that the image or likeness of the local SO lieutenant who caused the DUI accident and injury on 154 a couple of months ago was never published but a female officer being indiscreet was. Smells of sexism to me.

I feel terrible for her face to be placed on social media... I have heard, police departments, lawyers, even doctors, can go to their own private A.A., groups...don't know..

SACJON. Me. I haven't made a drunken ass of myself in public. Alcoholics and druggies like to think that everyone else is just as stupid about how to treat their bodies, but it just ain't so.

Thank heaven for small favors that they got to her *before* she got into her vehicle and caused others a sh-t ton of misery. I don't get how so many of the commenters here come rushing to her rescue. Anyone honestly believe it's her first time for being out of control like this?

It is sad that the media, Edhat included, is dragging this poor woman's face across the internet. She obviously has some issues, but does not need the public abuse that will come with this extra attention. Everyone has an occasional bad day. She did not physically attack anyone nor draw a weapon, so maybe we can cut her some slack? According to KSBY, she is a custody lieutenant assigned to the main jail, not a police officer. Hopefully she will be able to keep her job along with some mandated counseling ..etc.

YETI, I agree. I also find it odd that this woman’s mugshot is here for all to see because she was drunk in public. Yet the other custody deputy recently in the news, for a much more serious crime, had no photo and that story just went away. He was charged with DUI and crashing on the 154. And he was driving a Probation Dept Supervisor’s car! Why weren’t both of their photos released to the public? Guess it’s all about who you know...
