Source: Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office

The grateful mother whose four-year-old son who locked himself in a bathroom and was helped out by Sheriff’s deputies posted a video of the incident on youtube. We appreciate her sharing her video and her story.

  1. Someone please explain why the child was given positive attention, a little Deputy Sheriff sticker and, it looks like, Sheriff’s toys to “reward” him for locking himself in the bathroom? Doesn’t he look old enough to you to follow directions on how to unlock that door? And who pays for the damage to the door? The homeowner’s insurance? There is no window to that bathroom? What guarantee was there the child would not be standing directly in the way of the door when it was kicked in? And the Mom videos it all. Did she post this on YouTube to further enforce how “good” it is for kids to misbehave?
