The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has announced Raquel Zick as their new Public Information Officer.

Zick was hired by Santa Barbara County as an intake and release specialist for the Probation Department in 2001 and in 2003 she was hired by the Sheriff’s Office.

She has worked as a sheriff’s deputy, dispatcher, administrative, office professional, and media team. Her most recent assignment was the administrative assistant to Sheriff Bill Brown.

“Her unique, blended background makes her an ideal fit for this position,” Brown said in a statement released Tuesday. “She is dedicated, conscientious, creative and an excellent communicator. She excels in the field of social media and I know she will continue to do an outstanding job in her new role.”

She is a member of the Carpinteria Rotary Club, a Boy Scouts Assistant Den Leader, Little League Team Mom, and Read Across America volunteer. She also founded the Santa Barbara County Women in Law Enforcement Group.

Zick will officially begin her new position on October 10. She is replacing Kelly Hoover who left her position for the City of Goleta several months ago.
