Santa Barbara drivers received an unusual dose of rush-hour chaos early Tuesday morning when over 300 rebellious sheep decided to stage a breakout near Mountain Drive. Traffic was briefly interrupted as the woolly wanderers embarked on their self-declared “field trip.”

Apparently, the flock was on a mission to test the age-old phrase, “the grass is greener on the other side.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. But that didn’t stop these hoofed hooligans from grazing where they shouldn’t be, causing drivers to do a double-take and some serious emergency baahh-rake action.

CHP officers quickly rose to the occasion, hoofing it to the scene to help the owner wrangle the renegades.

After some quick thinking (and maybe a few sheep puns), officers managed to guide the fluffy fugitives back to their pen, ending Santa Barbara’s latest wool-based escapade.

As of today, the flock is back to their usual routine, probably reflecting on what they learned during their brief taste of freedom.

“Just another day in Santa Barbara — where even traffic jams can be fluffy,” the CHP office posted on social media.

Drivers are advised to keep an eye out for any future rogue sheep activity — because you never know when the next flock will be feeling a little sheepish.
