Sheep on San Marcos Foothills Preserve

By an edhat reader

There are 400 sheep grazing the San Marcos Foothills Preserve. They are surrounded by an electric fence and guarded by two Great Pyrenees. They will be there for another couple of weeks to improve the habitat for native grasses and birds. Currently, they are on the ridge above the new construction off Cieneguitas.

  1. Heehee… what a great way to abate out of control growth of grasses which dry out by next month and become fuel. Use of sheep is new though, isn’t it? In the past this job went to goats. Did the sheep have a better union? Or did the goats bite off more than they were asked to?
