Seven Deaths and 125 New COVID-19 Cases

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department (PHD) is reporting seven deaths and 125 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday.

Four individuals were 70+ years of age and three were 50-69 years of age. Six individuals had underlying health conditions and two deaths were associated with an outbreak at a congregate care site. Two people resided in Santa Barbara, one in the unincorporated of Goleta, one in Santa Ynez Valley, one in Lompoc, one in Orcutt, and one in north county unincorporated.

There have now been 388 deaths since the start of the pandemic in Santa Barbara County.

Currently, the county has 535 active cases. Of those, 95 are hospitalized including 20 in the intensive care unit (ICU). The county’s ICU availability has lowered to 19.7% as of Thursday.

PHD will share the current status of COVID-19 vaccine delays and other updates during a public press conference on Friday afternoon.
