A head-on vehicle collision involving two cars has resulted in serious injuries for two individuals on Highway 135 east of Los Alamos.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department reported the incident at approximately 8:26 a.m. on Monday, stating that both lanes of the highway are currently blocked due to the crash.
The accident involved a white Chevy Silverado pickup truck and a gray Toyota Camry sedan, each with a solo occupant.
A female driver suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Marian Medical Center by a CalStar Helicopter.
Meanwhile, the male driver of the other vehicle was transported to the same medical facility via ground ambulance. The conditions of both patients have not been released.
Caltrans has implemented a hard closure of both lanes on Hwy 135 to facilitate emergency response and investigation efforts.
There is currently no estimated time for when the highway will be reopened to traffic. Motorists in the area are advised to seek alternative routes and expect delays.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
