A semi-truck collision caused a significant electrical hazard Wednesday morning, prompting road closures and emergency responses on Foxen Canyon Road, east of Santa Maria.

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the semi tractor-trailer struck a power pole near Dominion Road, knocking it down and leaving live power lines draped across the vehicle.

The driver remained inside the vehicle as a safety precaution, preventing contact with potentially energized lines. Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) crews arrived at the scene to assess and resolve the situation. Firefighters from Santa Barbara County’s ME23 unit were standing by to assist the driver after the area was deemed safe.
