Search & Rescue Trains for Earthquake Strikes

Source: Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office

Thanks to our Search and Rescue Team for their continuous dedication to training. This past Saturday, they conducted a field exercise simulating a major earthquake striking Lompoc. They were tasked with searching a multi-story apartment building.

In preparation for a major disaster striking California, the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services has tasked each county’s search & rescue teams to develop Urban Search and Rescue capability.

The exercise included building search, breaching to reach subjects, and extracation of injured subjects using high-angle rope rescue skills.
