Authorities are seeking the public’s help in locating 85-year-old Sonia Lang Crestfield, a resident of Friendship Manor in Isla Vista, who has been missing for nearly seven days.
Crestfield, who suffers from dementia and is considered at-risk, was last seen around 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 11, near 6647 El Colegio Road in Isla Vista.
“Sonia has not been in contact with anyone in several days,” said Raquel Zick, a spokesperson for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office. “She suffers with dementia and may be confused or disoriented.”
Crestfield’s family filed a missing person report on Monday, and since then, the Sheriff’s Office has been actively circulating her description and photographs to aid the search effort. Authorities are urging anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward immediately.
Crestfield is described as a white woman with gray hair and brown eyes. She is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 128 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black sweater, dark blue jeans, black tennis shoes, white gloves, and using a blue walker.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office issued an at-risk missing person alert across Isla Vista and Goleta through social media. Their post reads:
“ISLA VISTA AND GOLETA — Be on the lookout for an at-risk missing adult. Sonia Lang Crestfield, 85 yrs old, last seen on July 11, 2025, at approximately 11:30 hours, near 6647 El Colegio Rd in Isla Vista (Friendship Manor). Ms. Crestfield has not been in contact with anyone in several days, suffers with dementia, and may be confused or disoriented. She may be wearing a black sweater, dark blue jeans, black tennis shoes, and has a blue walker. Please call (805) 683-2724 if you know her whereabouts.”
The Sheriff’s Office assured that the alert would be removed once Crestfield is located.
Anyone who believes they may have seen Crestfield or has relevant information is urged to contact the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office at (805) 683-2724. Authorities continue to emphasize the urgency of locating Crestfield due to her medical condition and vulnerability.
