Search and Rescue Locate Lost Hikers

Source: Santa Barbara County Search & Rescue (SBCSAR)

Late [Sunday] afternoon, SBCSAR responded to a report of lost hikers in the Figueroa Mountain area of the Los Padres National Forest.

The call came in from one of the hikers who stated that they had become lost off the Davy Brown Trail. The hikers had reportedly began their hike at the Davy Brown Trailhead and became lost on a trail intersection with the final destination being Davy Brown Campground. With only a couple of hours of daylight, team members mobilized and responded to numerous trails in the area to provide the highest likelihood of finding the hikers.

Santa Barbara County Air Support Unit’s Copter 1 also began a search of the area and members from the Santa Ynez Valley drive up to Davy Brown Camp for containment to make sure that hikers didn’t leave the search area without notice.

After a few moments, members at Davy Brown Camp located the hikers and made sure that they were in good condition. Teams returned just before dark to their stations.
