United Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara County had a week of thanks when they served 642 free meals between their Carpinteria unit, Westside Santa Barbara, and Goleta Unit.

The Clubs stayed open late for members and their families to enjoy a sit-down Thanksgiving Dinner cooked by Nancy Weiss and the Santa Barbara Unified School District.

Homeowners Financial Group sponsored this year’s Thanksgiving Dinners. This sponsorship meant that all families were able to enjoy a hot Thanksgiving meal at no cost to UBGC as an organization.

This year the annual event spread to the Carpinteria Club too.  Parents and community members were excited to have this meal in their community.

“Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on all that we are thankful for, and the Thanksgiving Meal that we served to our young children and their families is a reminder to us all that not every family is as fortunate. We, as community members, need to do our part in giving back,” shared UBGC Board Member and Rotarian Javier Quezada, who helped serve the meal at the Goleta unit.

Special community sponsors include the Goleta Evening Rotary Club, who helped sponsor the Goleta unit desserts and brought 10 Rotarians to serve the dinner. Adam White who sponsored Westside Santa Barbara meals.

Special thank you to Mission Linens for their donation of linens to make our gyms feel like a restaurant for our members and their parents.

“When you have all these amazing people coming together to help the families we serve it is just another reminder of why I have the greatest job!”, expressed CEO, Michael Baker.
