Scanner Reports 7-4-18

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Squatters are on the agenda again. I was one when I first got here sleeping in an old gas station in the 500 Block of Santa Barbara Street. I woke up one morning and there was a bulldozer under me scared the crap outta me, they were tearing it down without my permission! That is one of the dangers of being a squatter on someone else’s property you never know when they are going to tear it down! I heard there was a 459 Burglary in a  vacant structure in the 300 Block of West Yanonali MONday evening. Seems like there are more vacant residences the past couple of years, some of you might have them in your neighborHOODS and not even know it.

I hope that  all of you are aware of your neighborHOODS what goes on there, protecting your neighborHOOD is protecting your home. If you know of a vacant residence in your HOOD so do opportunists and they are just waiting for the right time to take advantage of the situation whether it be squatting on the property or ripping you off. If you like, tell us about your neighborHOOD what you like or dislike about it or if there is trouble you would like to see change. When I moved into my first place here it was actually “HER Place” I started a neighborHOOD Watch, no one was really interested in it except me it kinda fizzled out especially when I fell off the wagon and started drinking. I did not want the cops coming around then pick me up off the front lawn and take me to jail. When I moved here to Milpas 20 years ago I appointed myself neighborHOOD watch after helping to chase down a rapist and guard him till police arrived. Some punk over at the shelter told me to leave the property after the skuz ball ran in there for protection, when he dismissed me and told me I could go,  I said, (Will you know what I said). He said, “Who are You?” and I answered “Self Appointed NeighborHOOD Watch this is my HOOD I live across the street and you can be Dismissed you don’t dismiss me from my own HOOD.”  I waited until the police got there and took the criminal away and I butt heads with the operators of that shelter a long time because I did not like some of the criminals that came to my HOOD. Will now everythings changin down here everyone wants to build BIG Fancy Hotels on Milpas make it something it aient rake in all the dough be rich and beautiful. They  don’t want my kind around here anymore hopefully I’ll find another HOOD I can call home for awhile until I go to my  home with Belinda. A nice homey area with good neighbors like the ones I got now…That’s my MILPAS UNDERPANTS and I’m sticking to them! Here are your Scanner Reports.

  1. 805-683-2724 Sheriff Dept. , number given in thread for safety on July 4th. Roger, isn’t that a good number we should all have? Isn’t 911 routed to Ventura first , whereas the 805-683-2724 is local and much more direct to Sheriff.

  2. I don’t recall a gas station in the 500 block Santa Barbara Street.
There was an old station at the SE corner of Haley & Santa Barbara Street across from the Ambassador Laundry that had been on E. Haley Street.

  3. Roger, Luckily our neighborhood is friendly and most neighbors have been here for decades, one more than 60 years. However there are a few vacation homes so your advice to keep a look out is going to keep me more alert. Thanks. As for 911 being in Ventura, I had a bad experience with them. On a group trail ride a girl was thrown and hurt. The 911 woman couldn’t find our location on her map so wouldn’t give out my directions. Instead she sent the fire dept to where we started, miles away and no way for them to get through the trail network. We were by the old Montecito Hot Springs Club with a dirt road leading up there. Finally we called the president of the Montecito Trails Foundation and he led the responders to us. Later I found the road up to us on the Thomas Guide.

  4. Nasty hot weather coming. The links at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/sbitz/z8AlR_mqfK8 are organized into several topics. #1 is weather, #3 is webcams, and #4 is fire links. They are there for you to get information from the direct source. If anything starts to develop (and I’m not at work), I’ll direct people to specific ones. Stay safe everyone, and don’t have a 4th of July charcoal BBQ on top of E. Camino Cielo. Again, thanks to John Wiley for setting up this forum.

  5. I know you don’t have a car Roger. I hope you have a plan if you need to evacuate. For those with cars, remember if the power is turned off, you can’t get gasoline. Get it ahead of time, by Thursday. And, thanks SHASTA GUY. Also, hoping to hear from John Wiley soon.

  6. LAURA at Edhat, can you guide us on how to use Edhat to keep it from getting overloaded when there’s a fire? Advice, please. We help you help us. Thank you for Edhat, and for saving Edhat by buying it, Laura. You and Roger make a great team. For me, Edhat is my first first first responder.

  7. SHASTA GUY, I went to your link, and thank you for updating. Can you change the date, it looks like you haven’t updated since February. It’s more reassuring to know that you are a regular on your site.
