Scanner Reports 10-31-18

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Halloween. I have memories of Halloween’s past as a kid living in North West Indiana and most are good as the grocery bags filled with candy we scored trick or treating. Back in the day, we went just about everywhere in town to score without fear of bad things happening. I had three solid blocks, I went on a regular basis somewhere around 90 homes and most gave out the best candy bars and usually more than one. We had one incident of some weirdo putting pins in our candy bars, he was identified quickly and disappeared from the HOOD and our lives, he received a long prison sentence, I’m sure. After that incident Trick or Treating for us was never quite the same candy and treats were checked by our parents, our trick or treating routes went from a 3 block radius to two then none. Trick or Treating was forever changed. Now Trick or Treating, if it exists at all is, 2 or 3 hours in the afternoon and candy is given out mostly by businesses in Business Districts, that is sad for the kids but safer too. I don’t have any candy for the kids this year, I’ll have to put “I owe Yous” in their Trick or Treat Pumpkin heads.

One year I gave out jars of peanut butter, though living in our small community I only had to give out several jars. I refuse to give anyone candy when I no longer have teeth that is a Horror show in itself especially when I smile. I’m not up on the technologies of life but I do have an old TV and VCR/DVD Combo which I prefer and some scary movies which I watch. I have written down a few suggestions for movies for you to watch most are not really that scary more entertaining Here you go: Night of the Living Dead,  Halloween, The Fog, The Shining, It, Cabin in the Woods, Children of the Corn, Poltergeist, Sixth Sense, The Others, The Forgotten. The last movie I found on VHS scared me, never heard of it before, but those are the scariest ones, movies you never heard of because maybe they don’t really exist. Maybe you watch the movie and disappear inside of it when it’s over, but it’s never over for you it’s really just beginning until of course, the next person makes the mistake of watching it. Happy Halloween and Here are Your Scanner Reports.
