Scanner Reports 1-22-20
By Roger the Scanner Guy
I'm really curious about something, I realized it just TUESday morning as I was listening to the scanner and heard a call on the 3400 Block of Richland Drive. It was a noise complaint, people yelling around 4:30am. Also, there was a friend on Facebook complaining about someone's dog barking all night, she lives off Foothill somewhere. I am wondering what overnight noise is like in your NeighborHOODS? Is it loud, annoying? Does it keep you up at night? There is a lot of noise where I live but most of it I'm used to after all these years. I live next to the 101 near Milpas street, then I'm also close to the railroad tracks, of course, there is Milpas street and the traffic there as well as occasional screaming, yelling occasional as in 4 or 5 times a day usually the earliest for yelling and screaming is 3:30 am to about 5am. Then there are sirens from ambulances, fire trucks, police cars usually a couple ambulances a day not as annoying as the screaming, yelling. A couple times a week police on their way to a Code 415pc (fight or domestic disturbance). I think the fire truck is afraid to wake me up. Most of the noise around here I am used to, so used to it I can hear if someone is walking on the property so I pretty much know when there is a prowler, but is it a prowler or a friend of a neighbor not so sure about that?
Anyway I am curious about your neighborHOODS you don't have to say the exact place you live the neighborHOOD is good enough. I find a lot of neighborHOODS have alarms around here too burglary, as well as Fire alarms, and vehicle alarms. I love it when I post Audible alarms on a certain block, then someone asks me what property or house it came from? Yeah Like I'm going to tell a crook make it easy for them. I'd rather they find out on their own and get the house with the audible alarm, or video alarm where the home or business owner can see on video who is on their property. Anyway if you feel like sharing your overnight noise I'd like to hear it if you feel like telling me off that is fine too...HERE IS YOUR SCANNER REPORTS...

Jan 22, 2020 08:49 AMOak Park is usually super quiet but one guy on a bicycle blasts his bluetooth speaker so loud my teeth vibrate. Not sure what is wrong with someone that needs to share their terrible music choices with the world but I'd love to gift this guy some headphones. Also noticed the helicopters have almost completely stopped. Guess there wasn't the profit Cottage expected in transporting stroke victims from out of town.

Jan 22, 2020 09:39 AMWestside. Lately, idiots keep "locking" their car repeatedly, and it honks every time.... Like once is not enough??? So, I started honking my car too.......I can do it from my upstairs window and it works. Sometimes, I wake up for some unknown reason, and not sure what woke me up. I was waking up around 5am for unknown reason, till I was complaining about it to a neighbor, and he told me that my immediate neighbor goes to work early in the morning !!!!

Jan 22, 2020 11:26 AMWestside. I admit I try to apologize in advance when new people move in for my dogs barking alerts. They don't bark for long, but if anyone walks up my driveway after dark they give out with a hearty chorus. On NextDoor I read about a lot of car vandalism in my area, and you can bet I keep my vehicles locked, but I'll see the motion sensor lights flip on and catch silhouettes leaving. I like assigning the paranoid function to canines, they know their job.

Jan 22, 2020 03:11 PMDogs are a necessity now a days especially if you own a home and you don't want to shoot people though they can be loud. ...I forgot about the copters flying in at Cottage Sorry about the guy with the speakers..Sometimes we will have an auto alarm go off and they are a pain in the ars real loud. I always wake up around the time I lost my gal I guess because I think about her alot. Every once in awhile I hear cars crashing, dumpsters being slammed too..

Jan 23, 2020 07:28 AMI live just behind Bishop HS - mostly quiet but when someone comes racing thru, you hear it. Not so quiet peeps walking their dogs at 5am, you hear it - it echoes. Btw, any of you folks who use Via Diego as a short cut from the 154 or to drop off/pickup kids from La Colina - the speed limit is 25 mph. WATCH IT! There are 3 schools (Hope Elementary, Bishop and La Colina) here and while most kids don't walk to school anymore there are enough of them out and some of us who'd like to easily back out of our driveways without fear of being hit. You don't need to speed around us, just wait a moment and we'll get out of your way. Lived here 3+ years and almost had my car hit too many times to count by anxious drivers. Worse are the ones who've flipped me off because I dared to back out after checking numerous times for traffic only to have them come ripping around one of the corners at 40+ mph. I have family/friends who won't park in my driveway because of it. Rant over, sorry...
