SBCC School of Extended Learning to host ‘The Future Looks Bright’ Job Fair on April 29

Santa Barbara City College’s School of Extended Learning will host its annual “The Future Looks Bright” Job Fair on Wednesday, April 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wake Campus, 300 N. Turnpike Road. 

The free, public event is designed to connect local job seekers with employers that are hiring now, with dedicated space for on-the-spot interviews and ample opportunities to network.

Organizers expect more than 20 employers across healthcare, hospitality, government, education, and nonprofit sectors. New this year, attendees and prospective employees can receive a complimentary professional headshot, adding a career-ready asset they can use on resumes and professional profiles.

Employers slated to attend include: 1Heart Caregiver Services; Bright Star Care; CommUnify; Cottage Health; the County of Santa Barbara Human Resources Department; the County of Santa Barbara Public Works Department; Devereux; Goodwill Mission Services; Hilton Santa Barbara; Hotel Californian; Momentum Work, Inc.; NurseCore of Santa Barbara; Peabody Charter School; Santa Barbara Public Library; Santa Barbara Trapeze Co.; Santa Barbara City College Human Resources Department; Superior Court of California, Santa Barbara County; UC Santa Barbara; and Valle Verde – HumanGood.

Resource partners will also be on site to offer guidance on training, certification and career pathways, including Eckerd Connects (in partnership with the AJCC of Santa Barbara County), Goodwill Mission Services, the SBCC SEL Career Skills Institute, and the School of Extended Learning/GED Testing Service.

To help job seekers sharpen their approach, SBCC is offering a free Strategic Job Search session via Zoom (CRN: 52348) on Friday, May 15, from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Enrollment in this class is not required to attend the job fair.

What attendees should know

  • Admission is free and open to the public.
  • Bring multiple copies of your resume and be prepared for brief, on-the-spot interviews.
  • Wear professional attire and plan time to visit several employer tables and resource partners.
  • Professional headshots will be available at no cost.
