A Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) employee has been arrested for allegedly stealing printer supplies and selling them on eBay since 2015.
Robert Mendoza, an SBCC staff member for 30 years, was arrested on December 12, 2019, for embezzling over $50,000 by ordering excess supplies for the Duplicating department and selling them online, according to The Channels.
The on-campus Duplicating department provides service to SBCC faculty and staff with services such as color copies, collating, binding, stapling, and other services. Mendoza is listed on SBCC’s website as a Duplications Technician.
Mendoza was confirmed to still be an SBCC employee as of February 1.

PITMIX, why are you misrepresenting the context in which this word was used. It was anything but a “hate speech” incident. Just the opposite. It was mournful incredulity during a sensitivity training session that anyone would use this word at all. Do your research before attacking others.

Taxpayers handing him $82,000 every year apparently is not enough? Too bad SBCC was more interested hanging the college fiscal officer on bogus “hate speech” charges, instead of demanding she watch the use of our tax dollars. Get your priorities straight, SBCC.
Hyperbole. Can think of plenty of other criminals that are worse. Pedophiles. Rapists. People who defraud seniors. People that abuse pets. Should I go on?

PITMAX It would help if you cease to pass on your unverified information. That “N” word was used inadvertantly once with an immediate apology. The absurd reaction (including yours) just blew things WAY out of proportion. My wife worked at SBCC at the time and knew the person involved. That whole affair made me sorry to have ever attended and taught at SBCC.
Most people are knowledgeable enough not to say the word at all, especially not in a sensitivity training at a college. “Mournful incredulity” about using the word involving the use of the word seems very Trumpian. Trying to deny the impact of the incident just reinforces the perception that students of color have developed through their experiences with bias and racism in our community. I’ve heard enough stories to know their perception is based on fact.

Coastwatch: This may be the least intelligent thing you have posted. Thieves are not the lowest of the low. Where do you put sexual predators, child molesters, murderers, maimers, terrorists bombers, industrial polluters and businesses that poison us with the bi-products of their manufacturing work? Etc. Or do you recommend “tolerance” for these behaviors?
