Regularly scheduled meeting of Thursday, February 14 to be held at Wake Campus

In order to accommodate all who wish to attend, the regularly scheduled SBCC Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, February 14 will be relocated to the SBCC Wake Campus Auditorium.

At the request of members of the Board of Trustees, the Board will have an item on the Agenda regarding permanent reinstatement of the Pledge of Allegiance at Board Meetings. The Wake Campus Auditorium can accommodate a larger capacity than the regular Board room. All other facilities on Main Campus are unavailable for this date. A link to the Board Agenda can be found here.

Parking at the Wake Campus is free. Due to the location change, the meeting will not be live streamed. However, the meeting will be video recorded and the recording will be available to the public once it has been properly captioned.

Millimessa your suggested censorship and suppression of ideas is abhorrent. I do not agree with what I hear Napoleon say on most occasions but the idea that we should prohibit her from saying these things is frightening. What fascist world do you want us to model?

I must specify that I'm fully aware of the fights over pledge and the reportedly racist speech of a VP. I'm asking for news about the issues and details cited in this thread. Who is teacher Napoleon and how is Annette Cordero angry?!

I take it "millimessa" had a post deleted? What IS going on at SBCC? It is my favorite school and always will be, I attended '80-'83, after leaving San Marcos early, then attended UCSB, then UCLA grad school. Obviously, life was simpler back then.

Who hires these angry faculty from Annette Cordero and Ellen Carey to Obnoxious Chem Teacher Napoleon? Are there no standards of conduct for SBCC faculty and staff? Their demonstrative behavior is outrageous, intimidating to campus visitors and is baseless. Angry souls leading influential students or worse?

If you've ever wanted to attend an SBCC trustee meeting, I encourage you to attend this one as it is very accessible, being held at the Wake Campus. The public comment section can be interesting and informative. It's always at the beginning of the meeting. If you make a public comment, or if you just want to be a spectator, please be respectful. It's unfortunate how not just students but some school employees have been rude, disrespectful and lacking in common courtesy at previous meetings. People are entitled to their opinions, and even if you disagree with their view, please take the high road by allowing them their right to speak without interrupting them.

Please do us all a favor and do not let in SBCC professor of chemistry Raenne Napoleon. Her out of control behavior and disruptions are embarrassing and totally disrespectful.
