Eww! In 1926, folks in Santa Barbara were allowed to use incinerators to burn their garbage on Wednesday and Saturday mornings between daybreak and 11 a.m.

Incinerators were still used here until at least the 1960s. Does anyone remember that? Thank goodness they’re no longer allowed.
