[Last Monday], founders and co-chairs of (PAGV), Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer and Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr., have announced that they will step aside after seven years of service.

“Gun violence claims lives and destabalizes communities across the country,” said Feuer and Vance. “As we move on from our roles as co-chairs, we leave PAGV in very capable and experienced hands with Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley and The Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark, as the incoming co-chairs. We look forward to this exciting new chapter in the life of PAGV.”

In accepting the role of co-chair Dudley stated, “Mike and Cy did a brilliant job creating, maintaining and growing PAGV. I am honored to have been chosen, along with my esteemed colleague DA Darcel Clark, to begin a new era for PAGV in the afterglow of all of their successes. Tragically, my county has been devastated by acts of gun violence. Although most gun owners in our communities are both safety-conscious and law-abiding, others, who often possess guns unlawfully, have negatively impacted the lives of many. While in this volunteer position, I hope to reduce gun violence both locally and in our neighboring counties and states.”

PAGV is an independent coalition of prosecutors representing over 60 million Americans in 24 states that is working to end gun violence. The group brings together prosecutors to discuss policies, legislation, and strategies to help prevent and confront gun violence in their jurisdictions. PAGV has held a dozen national forums on a range of topics, from gun crimes committed in the home, to safe storage, to illegal firearms trafficking, to mass shootings. PAGV has issued a nationwide blueprint on removing guns from domestic abusers, and a resource guide on preventing mass shootings and prosecuting mass shooters. The organization has also filed amicus briefs in several important cases, including those pertaining to ghost guns and gun licensing.

  1. BOARDER – “Guns keep me safe from a government” – how many times have you used/needed a gun to protect yourself from the “government?” Do you prefer pipe bombs like those placed around our capitol building last January or agricultural fertilizer and diesel fuel, like McVeigh?

  2. To those who fear guns and fear those who misuse them: Don’t buy a firearm. Don’t have a firearm in your house. Don’t let others have a firearm in your house. Done! All good…problem solved in your household. What someone else decides to do is not your biz, so bug out and MYOB because it’s out of your control. All I can say is that if you spend time in my home, we definitely will keep you safe….even if you disagree with us about “you know what.” If you don’t feel safe at my place, go hang out with the anti-gun pols and celebs because they are all surrounded by multiple armed guards. Other than that, Santa Barbara is quite nice out this evening…very nice (about a dozen surfos at Leadbetter, and only two or three at Campus Point…small waves…great venues).

  3. Buckwheat, the US is uncivilized in many ways, and guns are just one example. More civilized countries have outlawed racist and hateful speech, yet here in the US we actually protect it. More civilized countries have banned fake news, but again here in the US we protect those who spread misinformation. We need to move forward, and if that means we need to reform the Supreme Court or form partnerships between the government and large corporations to shut down people who act in an uncivilized manner then so be it. The era of “free-dumb” is over. We need broad regulation going forward to make sure everyone adapts to a more civilized lifestyle. Our little experiment in individual liberty in this country ha been a disaster, it’s time to move on.

  4. How about enforce the laws and make criminals pay for their crimes. It’s great to see all these ridiculously stupid comments regarding legal gun ownership which is a God given right enshrined in our constitution. Guns keep me safe from a government which is defunding police and trying “alternative policing”.

  5. Covid has shown us that the Ministry of Truth does in fact, reign supreme. George was only off by 4 decades. BTW, smart TV’s have the microphones and camera capabilities of the screens Winston endured and yes, there is a hack for the mike and camera. Big Brother and any other hacker be in the house!
