Please watch this short video made by Cody Westheimer, former resident of Goleta. We are again facing a major decision regarding the welfare of Ellwood Grove. A decision will be made tonight by our representatives.

:( was just there. Sad to see the trails closed but I'm hopeful that they will save it!

Isn't the grove kinda overgrown with widow makers? That is weakened euks barely able to keep their limbs up? I'll bet this prolonged drought is another reason why so many trees fell apart during the microburst downtown this weekend.

This wooded grove has been here long before the City of Goleta came along to mismanage it. The grove has been thru at least a dozen droughts and came back just fine with no intervention by any government agency. Just leave it be and it will be fine. If the City of Goleta has to post it as Closed ... then so be it. People will use at as they did before the idiots at the Goleta City Council came along.

One little difference between this drought and the dozen others you say the grove has been through.... this is first one where the City of Goleta has had liability. That's what they're really trying to manage, their exposure by keeping citizens out of there so if they get hurt they can't blame the City. Believe me... they will too. Walk down the street and trip over your own shoelaces and you're likely to sue whoever is around with deep pockets.

If the council does the same thing to the Preserve that they did for Goleta, relax. It will be overbuilt and congested in no-time!!

I remember during the Great Depression when the grove was full Okie campsites. They'd camp there for awhile on their way to greener pastures up north.
