The Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in keeping the community safe following three residential burglaries this week in Santa Ynez.

On Tuesday October 1, 2019, a homeowner in the 3600 block of Olive St. in Santa Ynez returned home from work to find that the residence had been burglarized.  A second victim in the 1300 block of Refugio Rd. returned home in the afternoon and discovered their home was burglarized.  In both homes, similar items were taken from the home, and similar modus operandi were noted.  In both cases, the home was accessed via unlocked rear doors.

On Thursday, October 3, 2019, a third residential burglary was reported to the Sheriff’s Office in the 1100 block of Tyndall St.  The residence was again accessed through an unlocked rear door.  The modus operandi in this burglary was also similar to the two burglaries on Tuesday.

Currently, there is no identified suspect information or vehicle information associated with these crimes.  The Sheriff’s Office is actively working this investigation in an effort to identify the suspect(s) involved.  Anyone with information relating to these burglaries can contact the Sheriff’s Office, Solvang station at 805-686-5000 during business hours or the non-emergency dispatch line at          805-683-2724 after hours.  The public can also make an anonymous tip at https://www.sbsheriff.org/home/anonymous-tip/.

Residents can help keep the community safe by keeping a watchful eye for suspicious activity in your neighborhood.  If you see something suspicious, call 9-1-1.  Note the license plate or physical description of suspicious vehicles or persons and lock your windows and doors when you leave your home.  For more information on crime prevention, visit the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office website at www.sbsheriff.org/about-us/community-outreach/crime-preventio-materials or visit the National Crime Prevention Council at www.ncpc.org.
