Santa Maria Shooting Suspect Arrested

On Monday, December 2, 2019, at about 3 pm, Santa Maria Police Department officers responded to a report of shooting in the 600 Blk. of North Palisade Drive. Officers arrived and found one adult male victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported from the scene by ambulance and then to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital via Calstar, where he is currently listed in stable condition. 

During the ensuing investigation, the suspect was identified as Alberto Fidel Reyes (38 yrs. of age from Santa Maria). On Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at about 5 pm, Reyes was located and arrested without incident during a traffic stop by SMPD Officers in the 900 Blk. of W. Morrison. Reyes was subsequently booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail for 664/187 PC – Attempted Murder. His bail was set at 1 million dollars. The SMPD Detective Bureau is continuing to investigate the shooting.
