On April 4, 2026, at approximately 4:22 p.m., Santa Maria Police officers responded to a report of a possible shooting at the 1600 Block of north Pine. While en-route, officers received information regarding a vehicle potentially involved in the incident.
Officers located the vehicle on the southwest side of the city with several occupants inside and conducted a traffic stop near Thornburg Street and Sonya Lane. When the vehicle came to a stop, two of the three occupants fled on foot; however, all three individuals were quickly detained and taken into custody. One suspect resisted arrest and was subdued using a Taser. All three suspects are adults.
During the investigation, officers recovered an un-serialized “ghost gun” equipped with an extended magazine.
At the original scene, officers located shell casings. Patrol officers secured the area, while detectives and the department’s Gang Suppression Team responded to assist with the ongoing investigation.
The Santa Maria Police Department is urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information that could aid investigators to come forward. Community members are encouraged to contact the department with any tips, no matter how minor they may seem.
This remains an active investigation, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
