On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at about 6:38pm, Santa Maria Police Department officers, including Chief C. Williams who was patrolling with officers that evening, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle blocking the roadway in the 700 block of S. Pine St.
The traffic stop led to a search of the vehicle and its occupants, including a 17-year-old passenger, who was found to have a loaded handgun on his person.
The firearm was recovered and the juvenile was arrested without further incident.
