Santa Maria Police Officers Make Robbery Arrest

On Monday, June 17, 2019, at about 1843 hours, Santa Maria Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a strong armed robbery that occurred near Memorial Park, located at W. El Camino and N. Pine Street. The reporting party, who witnessed the incident, saw two suspects flee the scene of the crime. Responding officers located one of the suspects in the 900 block of N. Broadway, who initially ran from them but was ultimately arrested without incident. 

A subsequent investigation revealed that the 15 year old suspect, and another unidentified suspect, approached the victim near Memorial Park. The suspects punched the victim several times, causing him to lose consciousness. The suspects took the victim’s personal property before fleeing the scene. 

The victim’s stolen property was located by officers with the help of community members that saw one of the suspects discarding the property as he attempted to run from officers. 

The 15 year old suspect was booked into Juvenile Hall on charges of robbery and battery causing serious bodily injury. Limited information is available regarding the second suspect at this time.
