Santa Maria Police Investigate Two Separate Attempted Murders

On 8/21/18 at 1042 hours numerous callers notified SMPD Dispatch of shots fired and a subject down in the area of Western and Battles. Officers responded and discovered a male with multiple gunshot wounds. The male was airlifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The suspects fled prior to officers arrival and have yet to be identified. 

The SMPD Detective Bureau and Special Enforcement Team are actively investigating this crime, which is believed to be gang related.

The only suspect description are two Hispanic males driving a dark colored, four door vehicle.

On 8/21/18 at 1841 hours Santa Maria Police Officers responded to a call of a stabbing in the 900 block of North Palisades. Officers located a male with stab wounds and he was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The unidentified suspect fled prior to officers arrival.

Santa Maria Police Detectives responded to the scene and are still investigating this crime. The victim’s condition is currently listed as stable.
