[On Sunday,] Santa Maria Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting. Victim reported that two suspects had stolen items from his residence, and one fired a shot into the air.
The armed suspect was described as a Hispanic male juvenile (13-14 years old), wearing black pants and shoes. The second suspect, a white male adult with facial tattoos, left in a truck.
GST Detectives arrived at 9:31 PM and saw a masked male, later identified as a 14-year-old juvenile, approaching victim’s residence. Suspect ran when officers tried to stop him, discarding a loaded, un-serialized handgun (“ghost gun”) with a tactical light and laser. The suspect was detained after a brief chase; the other suspect was not found.
The juvenile was arrested and booked on multiple weapons violations in addition to one count of armed robery. This is the sixth illegal firearm located and seized by the Gang Suppression Team in two weeks.
